Preface

 

Development of science & technology has made this world a very different place with the human being in its control to day in all respects. 21st century thus moves on fast with all the challenges for the generations ahead of a dream that is called ‘Global Village’. To achieve this goal and for all of us to survive on this planet as worthy human beings, the role of scientific education in these days of information technology can not be over emphasized. Mother tongue as the medium of education alongwith knowledge of English in particular for higher studies of science/technology is no doubt very important for the desired universal competitiveness. These are the objectives behind laying the foundation of the Syed-Syeda Memorial High School in its rural background to provide scope for the boys & girls living in remote village to over-come the disadvantages they suffer compared to the students from schools in urban areas.

 

 

Establishment of the School

 

South Dhurong, situated in 12 No. Daulatpur, Union of Fatickchari Upozila in the District of Chittagong, is a neglected hamlet. Inspired by need of the inhabitants of this particular area who have been for a long time backward in the field of education, Mr. Ezharul Hoque, an eminent industrialist & son of the soil with love for education was the man behind realizing this noble task. This institution managed by, Syed-Syeda Memorial Trust (in the name of the late parents of the founder) was formally inaugurated on 28/03/2003 by the then Commerce Minister, Mr. Amir Khasru Mahmood Chowdhury to students from class Six to Eight.  Teaching students up to class ten commenced subsequently by 2005. The three storied building of the school with all modern ammonites stands as a monument in the peaceful & quiet rural background. At present it has a teaching/administration staff of 13 (thirteen) with strength of nearly 300 students. It is managed by a 9 (nine) member managing committee selected from among the leading members of the founding family as well as guardians of the students. Residential accommodation free of charges are being provided to Head Master, Asst. Head Master and few teaching and admin-staff, in close proximity of school.

 

 

Aim & Vission

 

1. To impart education with a view to achieving all-round developments of the students mentally & physically to the best of their potentials/capabilities with particular stress on values. 

 

2.   To produce honest/worthy citizens having knowledge in modern science/technology.

 

3. To teach English as language to the students to enable them attain global competency individually also for nation building efforts & full utilization of their potentials/talents.

 

 

Special Features of the School

2. To follow the text books/syllabus as prescribed by the Secondary Education Board and also to prepare the students to face the challenge of the new century.

3. To impart lessons on art, technical education, music & computer.

4. To improve quality of handwriting, correct spelling & pronunciation in languages.

5. To discourage memorizing lessons & insist upon creative writing/thinking.

6. To take regular class tests for all subjects.

7. To provide/arrange Govt./Private scholarships on merit as well as deserving poor students.

8. Regular physical exercise, games & medical check-up to be provided.

9. To arrange periodical picnic, river cruise, education tour, competitive debate/display of art, cultural show etc throughout the year.

10. To celebrate the important national days/festivals in be-fitting manner.

11. All the activities of the school for the year to be performed in accordance with a set program.

12. Each teacher/student to be provided a yearly academic calendar at the beginning of the session.

13. Campus is kept clean & in line with the time and requirement of the day to ensure maintain planned / healthy environment to bring up boys/girls as worthy citizens.

14. System of education to follow as far as practicable to the standard of  progressive/developed world. Workshops/seminars to be organized regularly with participation of eminent scholars / educationists from Chittagong and elsewhere in the country.

15. Special care/attention by teaching staff is taken to encourage students for conversation / speaking in English to enable the students to be skilled in communication English.

16. Each class/section room to have number of students not exceeding 50 (fifty).

 

Stipends/Fee rebates

 

1. With two students of same parentage, one is entitled to pay half & with three one get full free school tuition fee.

2. Full-free and half-free studentships are granted to the deserving noor meritorious students.

 

 

Stage of education

 

1. Secondary standard: from class Six to class Ten.

 

 

Medium of Education in School

1. Shall be Bangla having special emphasis on English with particular attention to enable the students to speak, understand, read & write also converse in English.          

 

 

System/method of teaching in School

 

1. Imparting lessons should confirm with child psychology in an atmosphere of love & care without resorting to any kind of physical punishment (caning/otherwise or resorting to create fear).

 

2. Daily lessons in classroom to be designed, prepared & carefully tutored.

 

3. To reduce the pressure of work in school for the students, class works may be extended to carry over as home works without causing undue burden.

 

4. “Students Dairy” includes a column for parents/guardians to comment or evaluate their viewpoints on overall position/progress of his/her comment for attention of the school authority.

 

5. Internet, e-mail use/audio/video display and all other modern techniques/facilities for education to encourage.

 

6.Home work, class work all to be thoroughly scrutinized and followed up in manner to make the lessons interesting as well as easy for the students.

1.  Day School               : class six to class ten from 10:00AM to 4:00PM

 

2.  Weekly Holiday       : Friday (in case it is necessary, this time table may be changed by the school authority)

System of Examinations & Results

 

1.    Each examination/test is compulsory for student to take part.

 

2.  Student failing in final semester will not be promoted to next class. It may also be a compulsion for parents/guardians to withdraw the student from the school to avoid difficult situation in the interest of general discipline/order if so considered by the school authority.

 

3.   A semester completes every 4 months & 3 semester examinations average result will be deciding the final result and position of the student.

 

4.  Marks obtained in each regular class tests (tutorial) will be added to semester/final semester examination.

 

5.     Double promotion will not be entertained.

 

6. Progress report/tutorial examination results of the students will be sent to parents/guardians which are to be, after perusal, duly signed & returned to Head Master.

 

7.   Any comment/objection in respect of any result of the student should be communicated by parents/guardians within 7 days.

 

8.   All matters relating to promotion and school affairs will remain exclusively with the school authority.

 

9.   Semester examination papers of the students may be sighted by parents/guardians on a specific date. In special circumstance the papers may be sent to the parents/guardians conditionally. Final examination papers are not shown to the parents/guardians but these may be subjected to scrutiny/re-examination by fellow teachers.

 

 

Uniform (School Dress)

 

1.  For Boys: White shirt with navy blue half pant/full pant, PT shoe & with socks. For Girls: White Salwar, white Orna & navy blue Qamiz, PT shoe & white socks.

 

2. Each student must use the prescribed uniform within a week of his/her admission. Uniforms are available from school at fair price.

 

 

Diary & Badge

 

1.  School Dairy provided is to be used and written by the student regularly without fail. Dairy is to be countersigned by parents or gal-guardian. Class teachers will keep contacts with parents/guardians as desired. Each student must use the school badge.

 

 

For Information of the Parents/Guardians

 

1. Co-operation/understanding between the teachers & parents/guardians is considered essential for the success of the students. It is also requested that parents/guardians will regularly communicate with Head Master with their views/suggestions.

 

2. Parents/guardians must ensure regular attendance by their children/ward. Homework completion is another item of parent/guardian’s special attention.

 

3.  Homework of the students are not to be prepared by private tutors. Students must have the opportunity to develop own thinking/self confidence.

 

4. Parents/guardians will be held responsible for irregular attendance by the students, habitual laziness, defiance, objectionable conduct, bad behavior, indiscipline etc on their part.

 

5.  Parents/guardians will bring & take the students to and from the school at their own risk & responsibility.

 

6.   Parents/guardians must return the students dairy sent to them duly seen/commented upon also signed to the school.

 

7.  Any student suffering from infectious/contiguous disease/illness must not be allow/sent to school and should only come back upon full recovery subjects to Head Master’s clearance.

 

8.   Parents/guardians will ensure students completing the homework properly and may act as only a helping hand without doing the tasks on behalf of their wards. This will enable the students to develop their own potentials & also to build self confidence.

 

 

Parents Day/Visit

 

On specific dates/time parents/guardians will be invited to exchange views/opinions in respect of students and these scheduled programs through open discussion to find out ways & means to improve position of the students in all respects. The parents may also put their comments in the dairy of the student.
